The Falcons of Poetry Soar to Dubai: Grand Mushaira to Enthrall Urdu Poetry Enthusiasts

Dubai, 08-09-2023, Prepare to be mesmerized as Dubai welcomes the ‘Falcons of Poetry’ on September 9, 2023. A resplendent Mushaira, a gathering of poetic luminaries, is set to grace the heart of Dubai at the Pakistan Association Dubai Auditorium. This event promises an unforgettable evening of lyrical finesse, featuring celebrated Urdu poets from Pakistan and India.

At the helm of this poetic extravaganza will be the illustrious Iftekhar Arif, the recent recipient of Pakistan’s highest civilian honor, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, presented by President Arif Alvi. Hailing from Lucknow, British India, in 1944, Iftekhar Arif continues to command adoration from Urdu-loving communities in both India and Pakistan. He is hailed as a living legend of Urdu literature, embodying the shared cultural heritage of the two nations.

Adding a touch of contemporary flair to the gathering is the dynamic Wasi Shah. Not just a poet but also a prolific Drama Writer and Anchor, Wasi Shah has recently taken on the role of Minister of State for Tourism and Chairman of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). Since assuming office, Mr. Shah has displayed unwavering commitment to unlocking Pakistan’s tourism potential.

Mr. Shah’s remarkable career spans 26 years, dating back to 1996 when he created his first hit drama serial, “Aahan,” which aired on Pakistan Television Corporation when he was just 18 years old. He holds the distinction of being the youngest writer in Pakistan’s television history to craft a hit play at such a tender age.

Among the poets gracing the event are Abbas Tabish, Nadeem Bhabha, Ammar Iqbal, Waji Sani, Aziz Nabeel, Jyoti Azad, Aisha Ayub, Khalid Irfan, Syed Anser, Amardeep Singh, and Atif Rais, each a star in the firmament of Urdu poetry.

Tarannum Ahmed will be the anchor of the event, and the famous anchor, producer, newscaster, and poet Waji Sani will be hosting the Mushaira (poetry session).

The evening will also be graced by Aalok Shrivastav, Farah Sarosh, Dr. A Abdullah, and Himanshu Bajpai.
